Ask.com buys reference sites

It looks like Ask.com is trying compete with the bigger players by providing a more specialised search. This will be made possible by integrating its latest acquisitions; Thesaurus.com, Reference.com and Dictionary.com.

As it stands, Ask.com makes up only 5% of the market share according to Comscore with only 22 million hits a month placing it in 5th spot.

In an Australian first Google has launched a new predictive search powered by artificial intelligence.

It uses MATE (Machine Automated Temporal Extrapolation) to analyse a wealth of past user searches to successfully predict future events and internet content up to 24 hours before they happen.
